Default 26 Sqn fatal accident 16 Aug 38

Edward J. Boyle, stepson of Lord Trenchard, and Dr William D. Walker were killed 'in an accident which occurred near Richmond, Yorkshire, on August 16 [1938], to an aircraft of No. 26 (Army Co-operation) Squadron, Catterick, Yorkhshire.'

No. 26 Sqn operated Hector's at the time. I have checked 'Flight', 'The Times' and 'The K File' but have been unable to identify the aircraft involved in this accident. Is there a forumite out there would could enlighten me, please?

Errol, I confirm what Colin has posted, I have a press report on this accident which I think gave a more specific location and will get back to you.

The UK National Archives hold the crash report at "AVIA5/19 Rep No. W614"

    regards Rich
