    Default Aircraft at Levin,NZ Feb-May 41

    Hi All,

I wonder if anyone could tell me the type of aircraft used by cadets at Levin with ITS or ITW between Beginning of Feb 41 and end of May 41.

    Many Thanks

    Dave,

Er, none! ITS/GTS/ITW at Levin was where airmen (no 'cadets') did ground training only.

    Dave,
Although there was a certain amount of "square bashing" at Levin at this time, as also in all other ITW's all throughout the British commonwealth, the main activities there would have been classroom work, "swotting etc, before all the LAC Pilots, Air Observers and Air Gunners u/t they move don to the next stage of their training. Incidentally there WAS an airfield built at Levin about 1940/41 which was used as a satellite landing ground by No. 3 Flying Training School at Ohakea, which operated Oxfords and Hinds.
