    So far as I know, WR = Workshop Reserve, although War Reserve is a faint possibility. So the established strength of any unit (known as the UE, Unit Establishment) would comprise IE, plus IR aircraft (all of which nominally should be complete aircraft, and thus be available at fairly short notice for flying operations, or within say 48 hours), and sometimes also WR, which may or may not be stored in partially dismantled state, but could be made airworthy fairly quickly if required. I think this (WR) status depended to a large extent on having permanent covered storage available, but don't quote me on that. Any contributions which can refine or correct these statements most welcome.
