    Hi all

I have the following text on a squadron ORB that I am unaware of its meaning. Apologies in advance if I have overlooked them on this thread.

56 PTC & O.T.E Could 'PTC' mean Personnel Transit Centre? Ahh, yes, I see it is!

    Could someone advise on OTE?

    Thank you.

    Hello

Despite an internet search, I couldn't find the meaning of "F.R.U. (B.A.S.U.)", as the unit of a 1945 casualty buried in my area in northern France (unit given by Malcolm in the "unaccounted" series of threads). Not the recent Fleet Requirement Unit obviously.

    TIA

Probably the Forward Repair Unit in No 85 Group. I'm not sure of BASU but possibly 'Base Aircraft Servicing/Salvage Unit'?

    Hi Joss,

I have FRU as Field Repair Unit.
No BASU in my list but BARU for Base Aircraft Repair Unit so I would guess Malcolm would be right with his presumption.

According to the Sturtivant bible "Forward" is correct but from memory I think it is often referred to as "Field" in contemporary documents. The bible includes BARU in the glossary but strangely does not include BASU. However in the detail on 511FRU in autumn 1944 it has the BARU based a Courtrai and the BASU based at an Orphanage School Ypres. I think BASU must be "Salvage" rather than "Servicing".

    Hello

Thanks to Dave aka alieneyes off board, it's Forward Repair Unit until 30th November 1944. As "my" man died on 27 November 1944 (not 1945 as I wrongly said), I should have my answers about the circumstances of his death in 511 F.R.U. ORB at Kew.

    Thanks all

    Hi all,

I am looking forward the explanation of AM MM in connection with information about burial of killed RAF airmen in the Germany during WWII.
It seems to me I have seen a years ago something like "Air Ministry Missing Memorandum" but I am not sure and I am unable to locate the source again.

    TIA
