    AMU = Air Ministry Unit, so he was probably a staff officer

    Chris Hobson, in his Failed To Return, Part 2, A-B, (p.458), has this to say about Bateman:

    Bateman, Sergeant Kenneth Harrison, Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, (1128675), Wireless Operator/Air Gunner, 75 Operational Training Unit, Gianaclis, Egypt, North Africa, 09 May 1943, Killed Whilst Flying, Anson I, DJ284, Lost during a navigational exercise, Age 27, Carrigaline, Cork, Republic of Ireland, Alexandria (Hadra) War Memorial Cemetery, Egypt.

    A GRO overseas death cert on an ancestry.com family tree for A H E Dew indicates he died on the SS Highland brigade.

    Cause of death is cropped but starts with: Coronary.....



    H E Boyd is listed as Died on Active Service and has OADU listed on his graves registration form scanned on CWGC
