    Default No.117 Sqn. - Hudson EW877 - 5-2-1943.

    Hello,

I would like to know what, if anything, "Though Without Anger", by Colin Cummings, has to say about the loss of No.117 Sqn. Hudson VI EW877, on 5-2-1943. The Hudson lost power on take-off and crashed at El Adem, Libya.

    Crew/Pass. list, particularly welcome.

    Thanks,

    Col.

    Errol,

Thank you for that detailed listing.

I believe the following airman was also onboard EW877:

1342769 Sgt (Pilot) Eugene Joseph Patrick BERGNA RAFVR + 7-2-1943 (No.272 Sqn.)

    Buried Heliopolis War Cemetery 3.D.14

    Flight, has the following:

Royal Air Force - Died of Wounds or Injuries Received in Action.
    Sgt E. J. P. Bergna.
    Flight. April 15, 1943. p.405. Cas. Comm. No.221.

Willans had spent some four weeks in December 1942 and January 1943, touring India and the Assam front. On his return journey, and after spending a few days in the Middle East Command, he met with a fatal accident at El Adem, an airfield near Tobruk, on 5 February 1943.

The parents of 932188 Sgt Jack Herbert MANNING, resided in St. Philip, Barbados, BWI.

Thanks Col & Errol. EW877 was in my files however only with the name of Sgt MANNING. Working on Heliopolis War Cem. was in the process 'launching' a thread on Sgt BERGNA; he is listed in Flight Global as 'Died of wounds or injuries received on active service'.
Tobruk War Cem. still one of the many cemeteries to work on.
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Henk,

Bergna is listed in Flight as described in my earlier posting, ie; "Died of Wounds or Injuries Received in Action". All the other members of the RAF/RAAF mentioned by Errol, are listed in the same Cas. Comm., in Flight as; "Killed in Action".
