    Errol,

Thanks for posting the history of Beaufighter IC T3246.

The Armed Rovers, by Roy C. Nesbit (p.46), mentions the following:

The next sortie (by No.272 Sqn), was on 6 December (1941) ... But Pilot Officer William G. Snow was less fortunate. He was shot down by an Me 109 flown by Oberleutnant Gustav Roedel of II/Jagdgeschwader 27, based at Gazala, and crash-landed two miles north of Tmimi. Snow and his navigator, Sergeant John K. Dutton, survived to become PoWs.

Snow (84678), must have had an Australian connection. He has an undigitised A705 at the NAA (albeit, quoting an incorrect service number), and this identifies his aircraft as; Beaufighter T3246, his observer as, 966968 Sgt J Dutton, and the location as Tmimi, Cyrenaica. Both men are mentioned in Ross' PoW listing.

    Col.
