    Default Oxford I AR788

    Hello,

I need a full service history of Oxford I AR788. Could someone with the A-B AA-AZ Vol. please oblige? I particularly need the fate of this aircraft.

    Thanks,

    Col.

Sorry Col, text "Tyre burst....etc" incorrect, should read:
Hit tree and crashed near Sauerdale LG, 28.11.41; DBR.

This is exactly what is in AA100-AZ999 (latest edition) for AR787 and AR788:

    AR787 - To S.Rhodesia 4.41
23 SFTS - Tyre burst on take-off; swung and overturned, Heany, 21.1.42; DBR

    AR788 - To S.Rhodesia 4.41
21 SFTS - Hit tree and crashed near Sauerdale LG, 28.11.41; DBR.

    Henk,

    All is forgiven!

    Alex. Thanks for that.

I had two reports on the death of AUS401519 Sgt Ian Forbes LILLIE RAAF on 28-11-1941. One (AWM Roll of Honour DB), stated he died of Illness, the other, that his aircraft hit a tree on take-off at Kumalo, Rhodesia. His unit is quoted as 21 SFTS, SRAF.

I have since been able to confirm that LILLIE did in fact die in an aircraft accident at Kumalo, via a contemporary death notice. From all appearances, he was flying solo.

There seems little doubt that his aircraft was Oxford I AR788

    Thanks once again Gentlemen.

    Col.
