    Some were stores depots

    Some were Aircraft/MT/MCU storage

Some were Aircraft/MT/MCU modification and repair centres

Some were combinations of the above.

Was there a MU you were specifically looking at?

In the early stages of the war St Athan was designated an aircraft storage unit which supplied immediate reserve aircraft to sqns ready fitted with full scale equipment.

No.32 MU was formed under control of No.43 Group (Repair) as a Service Repair Depot. Salvage services were to be carried out by six centres in different parts of the country.

Until the Repair and Salvage Units were set up the Service Repair Depots undertook this task.

Default Request for any assistance regarding 144 MU and 162 MU in North Africa and Italy 43-4

Is it possible that I could revive this topic?

I am searching for any information regarding 144 MU and 162 MU which served as part of the BNAF and CMF.My grandfather served in both units as a fitter airframe specialist and I am interested in finding out more about his service.

    Thankyou in advance
