Default Leading Aircraftman NEWMAN, Samuel (1181510)

    Hello All,

Can anyone confirm if Leading Aircraftman NEWMAN, Samuel (1181510) was lost onboard Martinet HP478 which spun into sea 1 mile North of Findhorn, Moray on the 16.06.1943 whilst serving with No.2 A.G.S., Dalcross. I have the pilot as being Flt / Sgt SZCZEGORA, Ingacy (P.794974) whos body was recovered by a fishing boat on the 23rd June.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Kind regards,

    Tim

    Hi Tim

GRO lists him as being with 2 AGS so it seems likely.

    I have:-
Martinet HP478 of 2AGS spun into the sea at 0945hrs 1 mile north of Findhorn. The death certificate for Flt Sgt Ignacy Szczegora only shows the location as Findhorn bay. He was 43 years old and is buried in Tomnahurich Cemetery, inverness.
I believe that LAC Newman was also on the aircraft, his body not being recovered.
