Default RAAF Casualties - Mysteries #3

    Another one

    402238 Sergeant HOLLIDAY, Maurice Sydney
    Unit: 40 SQN RAF

Sergeant Holliday (Pilot) lost his life on air operations on 24th July 1941. He is buried in
the St Eval Churchyard, Cornwall, UK. No other details are available as Archives do not
    hold a RAAF Casualty file.

Can anyone Identify an aircraft incident for this ?

    Thanks

    Paul

    Paul,

AUS402238 Sgt Maurice Sydney HOLLIDAY RAAF (second pilot), was killed aboard No.40 Sqn Wellington IC X9662 BL-U on 24-7-1941, after the aircraft was attacked by a Me109. X9662 was damaged, but was able to land at St Eval.

    See:
    Sweeping the Skies:A History of No.40 Squadron RFC and RAF, 1916-56/Gunby. pp.164-6 & 356.

Holliday, does in fact, have an undigitised A705 at the NAA.
