Default Plt off Roy "LULU" lane & Flt Alexander John McCormick searcging for information

Hi i have recently begun looking into my family history and have found out that Roy "Lulu" Lane was my biological grandfather, and Alexander john McCormick was my step grandfather.

I am trying to trace any information relating to either of them:

Roy sereved with 43 squadron flying Hurricanes and was shot down, he became a member of the guinea pig club at east Grinstead hospital, before going onto MSFU Speke and then onto help the Chindits before being beheaded in Burma, Particulary after information souronding his MSFU and Chindits days.

Alex was a navigator with 138 squadron at Tempsford and was awarded the DFC but I don't have much more than that at the minute.

Hopefully somebody can help fill in some blanks

    Many thanks

    John McCormick

    Hello,

A.J. McCORMICK's DFC was gazetted on 2nd June 1944, no citation quoted in the London Gazette :

    http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/issues/36542/supplements/2536

Two histories of No. 43 Squadron have been published, the second owing much to the first, and there'a s couple of books which mentions the MSFU, like "Hurricats".

There are a couple of old threads over on the Key Publishing Historic Aviation Forum which might be of interest. The titles are Sea Hurricanes and Merchant Ship Fighter Unit.
