    Thanks for posting that Oggie.

    There is a good description of the mid-air collision in Al Deere's book Nine Lives. He was very lucky to survive as it took him a while to get out of the cockpit due to the 'g' forces and he then became caught on the tailplane. He eventually broke free and his parachute opened at very low level. Even so he might not have survived had he not landed in a farmer's cess-pool!

    I was interested to hear of this incident again as it happened very close to where I live. Also the name Squire rang a bell as I mentioned him in a book I did on Biggin Hill a couple of years ago. Look forward to seeing his Spitfire in the air again.
