Default Flight Sergeant Albert Thomas Armstrong Stokes,

Can anyone provide any information on this chap,

I am led to believe that his last flight ended in a crash landing in Northumberland, with him being discharged from service 1941/42.

Having said that, the information might be totally wrong

    regards

There's a bit more info here:

Mostly background stuff, but it does mention that the crash in Northumberland MAY have been a Wellington.

    Hi Ladies and gents,

This may or may not be his service number.

    956161 T/SGT. A.T.A.Stokes

The pilot was possibly called 'Kelly', but not confirmed.
The aircraft MAY have been a Wellington 1941/42

    regards

    Default Birth

There is an Albert T A Stokes who was born in Aston (now part of Birmingham) in 1918. He died in Darlington in 1993. He possibly got married in 1938 to a Miss Bullock... course this may be totally the wrong guy but that combination of initials is unusual.

    Default Wellington crash Northumberland

Derek Walton's "Northumberland Aviation Diary" lists several Wellington crashes in the war years but no note of F/Sgt Stokes in their crews, similarly for other RAF bomber crashes in the county.
