    Default D H King RAFVR 145501Wymeswold 19/04/44

I am trying to trace what happened to the above officer who may have been killed in a training accident incident whilst at RAF Wymeswold in April 1944 - he is buried in Burton on the Wolds cemetary.
His son lives in Hing KJong and emigrated with his mother just after the war and visited the sight recently -- he thinks he was doing conversion training in a Wellington

    Paul,
28 OTU Wellington MF200Took off Wymeswold for circuit training, crashed 15mins later at Normanton Stour Nottinghamshire, killing all on board. It seems F/O King was a very experienced pilot with 1,520 flying hours to his credit, but only 30 of these on Wellingtons.
    F/O D.H. King.
    P/O D.R. Doyle.
    Sgt D. Fretwell.
    Sgt L.E. Garrod

    Guys

Many thanks for this - I will send this on. Any ideas as to why the Wellington went down?

His son mentioned that he was told by his mother that the Wellington's were quite old and had a tendancy to suffer from airframe failures

    Once again many thanks
