    Default Mosquito PR, 60 SAAF Sqdn, crashed in Italy

    I am searching information about a Mosquito PR of 60 SAAF Sqdn crashed in North Italy on 25 September 1943, maybe due to mechanical failure. According to the witness, the pilot Captain David J Maree, Service No. 21417V, died in the crash anhoter airman parachuted safely. After the war the remains of the pilot were buried in the Bologna war cemetery.
    Does anyone have any details about the aircraft and crew?
    Thank you for your time and I hope to hear from someone.

    I have the following that may help you.
    They was flying a de Havilland Mosquito IX, LR439

    The crew were;

    21417V. Capt David Jacobus Maree, DFC, SAAF. Pilot +
    205877V. Lt I.H. Lawrie, SAAF. Nav +

    This is what little I have, taken from 60 SAAF ORB.

    Took off Ariana, Tunisia. On a Reconnaissance to assess bomb damage on Bolzano and Bologna. Missing. The crew are buried in Bologna War Cemetery, Italy.
