    Default W/Cmdr George D Garvin

W/Cmdr George D Garvin was at one time connected with 211 Group in the Middle East. Can anyone confirm his position in the Middle East during August 1944 when he flew a bomber escort sortie with 94 squadron.

    TIA,

    Ian

    Ian,
You can chase him up by using his S/n of 34237 in the LG. Apparently got some Greek Gong. Don't know what all that's about, but it might give you a lead!!

    Hi Ian

He retired as an A/Cdre so he is on my website at http://www.rafweb.org/Biographies/Garvin.htm

He was SASO, No 211 Group.

    Hi Ian

Although he is still listed as such in the Nov 1943 Confidential Air Force List, it seems 211 Group was disbanded 17 Sep 1943, with personnel moving to Fighter Sector 'Z' (later 335 Wing), so he may have also moved there, but Wing staffing is not shown in the CAFLs.

    A further thought,

As W/Cmdr Garvin flew a sortie with 94 squadron in Aug 1944, he probably had a connection with 212 Group, Eastern Med.

He's not listed on the staff of 212 Group in Jun 1944, but could have been on the staff of the Wing controlling 94 Sqn.
