    Default May 1941

    Moving on

    1. 65 Sqn lost two pilots on 2 May, bothe registered in Dunmow: -

ROSS, DAVID GORDON (82429) RAFVR - age 37
GILBERT, HUMPHREY TRENCH DFC (40530) RAFO - age 22

I have only found one aircraft loss, BL372, can anyone advise who was flying it and what happened to the other pilot?

    2. In TSGNO, MACDONALD, DONALD CHARLES (R/69236) RCAF - age Unknown is shown as being killed in Hudson JM632 of No 59 Sqn, however, this serial doesn't appear to have been allocated, what aircraft was he in?

    3. 23 May - 80 Sqn lost two Hurricanes, BE339 or BE707, they also lost two pilots: -
SCOTT, WILLIAM ROBERT (R/60429) RCAF - age 23
HOWARD, JOHN JAMES VICTOR (R/1828) RCAF - age 20

Does anyone know who was flying in each aircraft?

    4. DESOURDY, VINCENT GEORGE (J/6400) RCAF - age 24 and possibly LEE, GEOFFREY ERIC (922541) RAFVR - age 28 were killed on 26 May with 235 Sqn. According to TSGNO they were in T4533, but this was a batch of cancelled Beaufighters, so doews anyone know what they were actually flying?

    5. The following two were probably killed in the mid-air collision of Spitfires, K9951 and P8249 on 27 May, does anyone know who wa sflying which?

    SKYRME, ERIC (656663) RAF - age 20
    LUNDHOLM, TERENCE (116426) RAFVR - age 24

    All the best

    Malcolm

    Malcolm,

1 - After a mess visit S/Ldr GILBERT and F/Lt (Controller) ROSS would show how it felt getting into a spin. Both were on BL372 and Ross was sitting on Gilbert's lap. The a/c crashed Loves Farm, Cutlers Green, Thaxted, Essex.

    2 - MacDONALD was on AM632.

    3 - From unknown source:
SCOTT on BN413 missing from escort mission to Tmimi.
HOWARD on BM974 shot down by Bf 109s near El Adem.

    4 - I've DESOURDY and LEE on T5133.

5 - In my files is LUNDHOLME on K9951 and SKYRME on P8249.

    Regards,
    Henk.

Some answers from Henk's research into TSGNO:

D.C. MacDonald was in Hudson AM632.

Desourdy and Lee MAY have been in T5133, not confirmed.

I see Henk types faster than I do!

    Default Title Typo

Thread title should read May 1942, NOT 1941
