    Hi All

    I'm helping a relative of the above who was killed 15 Sep 1944 with 70 Sqn, anyone know the circumstances?

    MEDITERRANEAN ALLIED AIR FORCES
    Raid on Eleusis airfield, Athens (by 29 aircraft - 1 lost)
    70 Squadron, RAF (Tortorella [Foggia No 2], Italy - 231 Wing, 205 Group. Mediterranean Allied Strategic Air Force)
    Wellington X LN768/V - took off at 1637 and crashed into a peak in the Vardhousia range near the village of Dhafnos, 35km NE of Nafpaktos on the NW coast of the Gulf of Corinth. The five crew* were buried near the scene by local villagers, but later reinterred in Athens.
    Captain: NZ421765 Plt Off Colin William ROBBIE, RNZAF - Age 21. 496hrs. 3rd op.

    For some reason I had not allocated Bennetts to LN768, but had the the rest of the crew
