I have a Combat report from 24/10/42 submitted by Lancaster "R" of 106 Squadron, captained by P/O Curtin. (AIR 50/208 p50)

The Lancaster was returning from a daylight raid on Milan and at 1737 hours engaged in a combat with a Macchi 202, which the crew claimed to have shot down. Another crew (Lancaster "O" - P/O Healey) witnessed the combat. The citation for the bar to Curin's DFC also mentions the combat and states the fighter was considered shot down.

Knowing absolutely nothing about the Italian air force and its records, could anyone give me any clues as to where to start looking for information from the Italian side? I'm basically trying to find out where the aircraft was from, if it was indeed shot down and (a long-shot, I know), who the pilot was.
