HV351, was piloted by AUS403426 P/O William Walter EVANS RAAF. The Hurricane crashed at 1800 on 1-8-1943, 3m SE of Savoia strip, Libya, whilst on a non-op air test.
Evans, after experiencing loss of elevator control, baled out too low. His parachute failed to fully deploy, and he was killed when he struck the ground.
Storr variously identifies the Hurricane as RV351, or RVG351!

Fitters had reversed controls, Bill Evans told to bale out, but left it too late.
