    Default AUS402384 F/O J D McCLURE RAAF

    Hello,

AUS402384 F/O John Denis McCLURE RAAF, was killed in an aircraft accident at Armada Road, India, on 11-5-1944.

The AWM quotes his unit as No.70 Sqn. No.70 Sqn was never in India 1939-45 (McCLURE's last posting was No.79 Sqn). At the time of his death, McCLURE was attached to the Air Firing Training Unit (AFTU), Armada Road.

Alan Storr, and the NAA state that McCLURE's aircraft was Hurricane BS571. BS571 was never allocated to any aircraft. I believe the Hurricane serial was possibly in the BEXXX, or BNXXX range.

Can anyone identify a Hurricane loss on 11-5-1944 that fits the bill?

    Thanks,

    Col.

    Errol ("The Unshakeable"),

Thank you. The description fits perfectly. Is that BD or BE571 (or maybe BN571)?

PS. Glad to hear that all is well with you in "The Shaky Isles".

    Henk,

I was going to start a new thread to ask just that question! You have saved me the trouble.

    Thank you.

Does anyone know the circumstances of the loss of Baltimore I AG725?
