    Hi Phill,

    only bits and pieces:

    Default Botha L6223

Further to my earlier thread on this AIRCRAFT the following was noticed on the aircrafts RAF FORM 78 , the aircraft WAS GIVEN a CAT E following a flying accident , on the 8/4 42 AND SOC ON the 17/4/42 , The Botha had arrived at 32 MU ON THE 30/12/41 , so i note the earlier date given as 8/4/40 as being wrong .

as the 1180 is not available at the RAFM , i note that a pilot by the name of F/O REGINALD WILLIAM SHEPPARD 89621 RAFVR WAS KILLED on this date while flying with 32 MU ,a pilot who had amassed some 1234 hrs flying time he had been awarded his wings on the 23/2/39 , He was lucky to escape by parachute when a Beaufighter (R2324) of 32 MU started to break up following a dive on the 29/5/41 , sadly LAC WILLIAM SYDNEY DENNIS JAMES RAF 572828 WAS KILLED ON THIS DATE , who was possibly on board the Beaufighter . i hope this may be of interest

Phill, Tresillian Bay is near Llantwit Major and Sheppard's death is registered at Bridgend, which would be correct for LL. M. As to the wrong date for the Botha, ABS and the Crash List give 1940. I will pass the query to a contact in Wales, watch this space.
