    Default Wellington Mk X - serial NC713

This aircraft crashed on 11.05.45 shortly after a night take-off from RAF Bitteswell whilst serving with 105 OTU, killing the entire crew.

Would anyone know the unit code and aircraft letter this Wimpy would have sported please?

    TIA

    Walter

    Hi Walter,

according to RAF flying training and support units by R. Sturtivant

    105 OTU - codes I5, 8F, 7Z, as an example there is mentioned Welligton MF521 8F-R

    A. Lake in the Flying units of the RAF has the same example plus Wellington MF703 with code I5-X and Wellington DV696 with code J only

So I am afriad it will be quite hard to find the particular code

Thank you Pavel, appreciate the info. I am trying to help the nephew of that Wellington's pilot and who would like to build a model of the aircraft in memory of his late uncle. I'll pass on this info to him for starters!

    Cheers,

    Walter
