Default Aircraft lost July 6th 1941

In an operation to Brest on July 6th 1941 my father notes in his logbook,

"An aircraft at approximately 3,000 feet was seen to be shot down in flames to the west of the town."

I am hopeful someone on the forum can identify what aircraft this was that was shot down.

    Hi David
Likely Candidate would seem to be 12 Sqn Wellington II,W5360, crashed at Guilers, 7 Km NW of Brest with the loss of all on board.A Hampden I of 144 Sqn AD871 is simply reported as lost without trace. Details from Chorley B C L Vol2
    Regards

    David,
Chorley, (Vol.2/83) has a Wellington II,W5360, PH-U of 12 Squadron crashing at Guilers, 7km NW of Brest. No survivors.
This is the only aircraft I can find that possibly fits your father's log book entry.
    Bill.

Least its more likely to be that a/c since you both confirmed it as the likely one....

Do you happen to know the crew?
