    Default Hurricane P3827 of 605 Sqn on 15 Aug 40

    Hello, I have a problem which I cannot resolve using sources I have.
    Hurricane Mk I P3827 of 605 Squadron forced-landed near Usworth on 15 Aug 1940 following combat against KG 26 and I./ZG 76 off the NE coast of England. According to The Battle of Britain Then and Now Mk V it was written-off but according to Bowyer’s Aircraft for the Few it was FBO2, so badly damaged requiring contractor’s attention. My guess is that in the end it wasn’t repaired, but can anyone confirm was it SOC or repaired?

    TIA

    Default Hurricane revisited

    Just as a matter of interest is there any more of this a/c's history? Did it go onto be used for the rest of the war or was it unlucky again...

    The Air Britain P1000 - R9999 serial register gives ;

    422 Flt

    1608 Flt
    1616 Flt

    The last two units were Anti-Aircraft Co-Op Flights . The pilot Cyril Passy survived the war and died in 1971 .

    Thanks for your quick reply, Northeagle!
    So 2 to 1 that P3827 was repaired, regretfully ASN doesn’t guarantee the info but on the other hand the info has been there over 2 years and have viewed by over 300 people and none has objected. Not the definite proof but something.

    Hello David
    Thanks a lot, that more or less settles the thing.
