    Default No.357 MU and other ground units Iesi Italy 44/45?

    Hello
    Would anyone know which other ground and service units (if any) were located at Iesi (Jesi) airfield besides No. 357 MU? Did 357 repair spitfires? Have been able to get a reasonable idea as to squadrons that were either based there or passed through.

    They were:
    RAF No.112.
    SAAF No. 2, 5, 12, 21, 24, 30.
    USAF No. 85, 86, 87.
    Any other Squadrons or ground units?

    This question is a spin off from my earlier post regarding B24's, spitfires and Wellingtons repaired by tank mechanics of the Polish 2nd Armoured Brigade.

    Thanks in advance for your patience.

    Hi Chris

    357 MU was an Aircraft Storage Unit but No 159 MU 'C' Detachment was also at Jesi and that was a Repair Depot.

    Also there were 6230 BD Flt
    14 MT LRU
    2 Section, 5136 BD Sqn
    567A Mobile Signals Unit
    311 S & T Column

    Thanks Malcolm, very helpful!
    No 159 MU 'C' Detachment, interesting!? Curious as to your source, would it list other MU's and RSU's in Italy? If it does I may have other questions if you don't mind?

    Also I'm not up on all the abbreviations.
    BD Ballon dettachment?
    MT Motor Tansport?

    Hi Chris

    Source - SD161 (December 1944), it lists the locations of every RAF unit worldwide

    BD = Bomb Disposal
    MT = Motor Transport
