Default A question for a Spitfire specialist.

    Hello.

I would like to know what means: "relating to Spitfire BME.737". Words that I found on a piece of paper (English origin) with this only ref document (I presume) 14 (case). C.5

    By advance thank you

    Hello Many,

That doesn't appear to be a Spitfire serial no., so I am wondering what the rest of the piece of paper said.

I wonder if .737 is the last 3 digits of Serial so could be either:

    P7737
    AA737
    EE737
    EF737
    ER737
    JG737
    JK737
    LR737
    LV737
    MA737
    MH737
    MJ737
    MK737
    MT737
    PT737
    RM737
    TB737

The BME I though might be Sqn Code but I am not so sure now, could help if we had context to the paper.,

    Hello Dfuller.

Sorry but is it is only a little part of sheet.

    Hello paulmcmillan

I thought and I think there is a connection between the digits of a serial of a Spitfire, and the collector who told me to do some researches said it is probably a Spitfire Mk IX and probably a French pilot...

Sorry to be mysterious, I can say what the collector want to give me...

14 (case). C.5, I think always (only a supposition) it is a ref of a British form used by RAF maybe for an accident, a missing pilot or an inquiry or something like that

    Thank you.
