I can't offer any insights into this Officer. However "The Canada Gazette" shows C15561 as belonging to L.E.W. Thompson.

I can find no L C Thomson (Thompson) on the CWGC website or the Canadian War Dead site.

Do you have any further details that would help the members on here?

perhaps Many you could give us some background as too where you got the name and nuber? From a typed or hand written document, item? Was he flying, shot down, finding out about an serviceman who was not killed is unsually difficult so as much information as you can give would help.

Christian thread above is the most reliable so far.

    Thank you for All.

Many free French pilots used in RAF for the security of their family an English name or a French Canadian name. One of this pilot used a French Canadian name ( Not Thomson of course), he was considered missing a long time after the WWII because he was buried as a Canadian pilot. But the most mysterious thing, I found during my researches around this pilot, this "Matricule": C15561, a matricule of a RCAF Pilot who was alive after the war.

Since, I look for where is the error? I would like to know if these 2 pilots has flown together ? Could be an administrative error? so many questions without answers...

Sorry to not say who is this Free French Pilot, I didn't finish my researches...

    Thank you.

    Helo Many,

Can you give any details of Date he was killed or Burried ? it might help to narrow down any loss.
From BCL vol 9 the only L.C. Thompson was 402622 Sgt. Lawrence Chase Thompson from 50 Sqdn lost 26-6-42.Downside is he was RAAF.
Manchester I L7289 "VN- ", op to Bremen, hit by flak All buried in the Waller Friedhof, since their remains have been taken to Becklingen War Cemetery.( BCL vol3).

With regard to the service number "C" prefix, this seems to suggest that the holder of this number entered the RCAF at some date before WW2.

Recorded on the Canadian Memorial site is a P/O. Leonard Gregory Thompson J13697 RCAF who was killed on 14th February 1943, (not in BCL as far as I can see).

    Good luck
