    Default Lancaster Archive data pirated

Just received from Larry Wright at the Lancaster Archive:

"I have been advised today that the Lancaster and Manchester Losses files
which I have spent some 20+ years working to compile have been stolen from
this site and are now posted online for sale by CD.

These files were clearly copyrighted and dated.

As a result I have been forced to remove this listing from the web site to
    protect my work.

Anyone who sees these items for sale are requested to contact the
authorities in your region and advise them of this theft.

I am deeply saddened to see once again that a ‘few selfish people, who wish
to make profit from others work” have ruined this information being made
available to those who may wish to have used it.

Thats very sad news, as I know Larry has spent a great deal of money purchasing
ORB's for quite a few Bomber Command Squadrons.

I hope it's possible to track down those responsible.

    Hi,
Whilst not wanting to condone what has happened, as i myself have had it done to me by another well known site, i would just like to say that for the owner of L/A to use the word selfish, is slightly amusing considering the way i was treated my himself and a couple of his mods.
I was criticised by them for emailing information to people asking for assistance and not wanting to post photo's and files in my answers to other members on the forum. I was also asked to supply copies of ORB's in my possession to allow updates on the archive. Because i refused these requests, i was accused of being selfish, so i left the site, it was only when i recieved an email shortly after saying that i had a PM on the archive that on trying to login, found that i had been "Permanantly banned"
I do not mind "offering" files and photo's to those who need them, i've even sent copies of sections of ORB's to many people, all free of charge, but i will not give in to people actually asking for them.
Rant over,.........Apologies to Ross, if you think this reply needs deleting, please do so.
    Alan.

I fell out with the owner of the site a good many years ago, over similar issues Alan. I like to think that i'll readily share whatever "gen" i have, but i wont be told to share my entire archive lock, stock, and barrel....

Still, we're a happy crowd over here :)

I'm sorry to hear this guys. For my part, Larry has always been helpful and supplied me with several documents relating to numerous a/c I am researching.

And now, if anyone wants to get the access to the archive, he must buy the pirated disk. What is the sense?

I would have thought that keeping the archive open for free would deter people from puchasing the Pirated disks anyway?

    Just my thoughts!

I am sorry for the pirating of his data, but shutting down the Forum - if it is connected - seems a wee bit petulant. A number of folk found it to be a useful place to go.
