    Hi All,

    Can anyone give me any info on P/O Frank A Cardwell 617sqn ww2?

    I nam pretty sure he flew on ’'Operation Catechism’’ but not 100%.

    NZ422096 Frank Amuri Cardwell
    Enlisted RNZAF 19 Mar 1942
    Graduated in Canada as a navigator
    Posted to RNZAF Reserve 10 Oct 1945 as a pilot officer

    Hi Russ,

    ED763 was coded KC-Z and had nickname 'Honor'.

    There are some famous pictures around of ED763 while being loaded with ammo and a Tallboy, also showing the artwork on the nose.

    Frank Cardwell joined 617 from 44 Sq. 14/10/44 with Anning. 12/11/44 Tirpitz with Anning, 8/12/44, 11/12/44, 15/12/44, 21/12/44 with Oram crew, 29/12/44 Kell crew, 14/2/45, 13/3/45, 19/3/45, 21/3/45, 22/3/45, 23/3/45, 27/3/45 back with Anning. 17/4/45 posted to 11 OTU (617 ORB)
