    Default Flt Lt G E (Ted) Herod w/op 35 sqn pathfinders 1944-45

My late father was awarded the DFC, But I cannot trace any citation. I believe it arrived by post to his home address, so probably not an immediate award. Would it have been in recognition of serving full tour? Has anyone any ideas or possible direction in which to look.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Paul,

From the London Gazette search tool
    (http://www.london-gazette.co.uk/search)

Just enter a last name to start with to find an entry with his service number (unless you have a service number already). Then search by that. Here's what it serves up:

    Promoted to Sgt.
    9th Nov. 1943
    1245754 George Edward HEROD (158615).

    ROYAL AIR FORCE VOLUNTEER RESERVE.
    GENERAL DUTIES BRANCH.
    Confirmation and promotion.
Plt. Offs. (prob.) confmd. in appts. and to be
    Flg. Offs. (war subs.)
    9th May 1944
    G. E. HEROD (158615).

    Air Ministry, 17th July 1945
The KING has been graciously pleased to approve
    the following awards:
    Distinguished Flying Cross
    Acting Flt. Lt.
    George Edward HEROD (158615), R.A.F.V.R., 35 Sqn.

    Promotion.
The undermentioned are granted the rank of:
Flg Off to Flt Lt. (war subs.)
