    Hi Errol,

Could you please confirm whether the A-B volume, in fact states 22-11-44 or 22-11-43 as the loss date for Wellington VIII LB221.

    Thanks,

    Col.

    Col,

    Definitely states 22.11.44 (i.e 1944 not 1943)

    Errol,

One of the reasons l am somewhat sceptical of the loss date quoted by A-B for Wellington VIII LB221, is due to the fact that 3 (C) OTU disbanded on 4-1-44!

Thanks Col for info on these airmen on the Runnymede and the Wellington serial number. They were all on my "unaccounted list" and a note that they probably could have been missing on Liberator AL562 of 4 FPP, lost off Burrow Head, Wigtownshire, on a ferry flight Prestwick - Hawarden. Now again six names could be deleted from the long list !
    Regards,
    Henk.

    Col,

LB221 entry may have been a victim of A-B's Irish typist ... the well-known typing Eire?!
