    Default L.R.?.R. abbreviation

While looking at the 220 Sqn ORB I spotted the duty notation "...and calibration L.R.C.R." or perhaps "L.R.O.R." The details column reads "Circled Rockall but L.R.?.R. test unsatisfactory."
I'm guessing at Long Range [something] Radar. The aircraft was fitted with ASV Mk II radar - although not the long-range version - but am not sure if this was application based on that system or if it was something else. Can anyone help?
    Regards:

Could it be Long Range Centimetric Radar?

What is the date of the entry? The term radar only came into use in the RAF in 1943, so if it is before that, the R won't be radar.

    Ian and David:
Thanks. It's dated April 1943 and 'Centimetric' is an intriguing possibility. Coastal Command Fortress IIAs and IIs were not fitted with it operationally, only the three later Fortress IIIs, but it sounds like this was a test. I'll look to see if there are more refs before and after this date.

    Hi Robert,

I am afraid that my explanation will not fit as the only similar abbreviation I know has nothing to do with the radar but with the aircraft category:

LR GR = Long Range General Recconaissance

Czechoslovak Airmen in the RAF 1940-1945
