    Default 106 Sqn ORB's

    Hi All,

Does anyone have the ORB's for 106 Sqn for the night of 26/27 April 1944 and the crew of JB601 ZN-V. The crew were KIA with one survivor Sgt H Bradley who ended the war as a pow after breaking his leg.

    I think the regluar crew were;

    S/L A O Murdoch RAF Pilot.
Sgt H D Clark RAFVR Nav.
    Sgt W F Evans RAFVR A/B.
    P/O W F Collins RAAF W/Op.
    Sgt J H Rees RAFVR A/G.
    Sgt E A Hatch RAFVR A/G.
    Sgt K G A Izod RAFVR F/E.

    With Bradleybeing the second pilot.

    Thanks,

    John.

    Hi John,

Not sure what you are wanting from the ORB, But details from Bill Chorley`s BCL Vol 5 gives the following for JB601:

    S/L A.O`S MURDOCH. +
    SGT H.BRADLEY. PoW
    SGT L.G.A. IZOD. +
    SGT H.D.CLARK. +
    F/S W.F.EVANS. +
    P/O W.F. COLLINS. RAAF. +
    SGT E.A. HATCH. +
    SGT J.H. REES. +

T/o 21.30 from Metheringham. Crashed on French soil Laneuville-a-Bayard (Haunt-Marne)
on the W.Bank of the Marne, 10km S.E of Dizier, those who died rest at Laneuville-a-Bayard Church, S/L Murdoch a New Zealander from Christchurch had joined the pre-war regular air force.

    Don`t know if this helps.

May be a file the Aus NA re Collins?

    Regards
    Dave.

William Fredrick Collins listed as missing on raid to Schweinfurt.
    Service record:-
    http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/scripts/Imagine.asp?B=5380454
Casualty repatriation file, gives full details of crew, target and crash location:-
    http://recordsearch.naa.gov.au/scripts/Imagine.asp?B=1065801
The above files will almost certainly contain more than the squadron form 540 and 541.

    Hi Alan/Dave,

I am in contact with the niece of Collins, his NAA file does not have an invistgator's report which is a bit of a surprise as they are all in a collective grave. Just the way Chorley lists the crew I thought Bradley might have been a second pilot along for the trip to gain experence.

    Regards,

    John.

    Default Lancaster JB601

I am in contact with the son of Roy Bradley (Roy was the sole survivor of the crash) and my father was in the previous crew of JB601. I attend part of the 106 squadron reunion each year up at Metheringham Airfield in Lincolnshire and I have written a short account of information I have collected on JB601 which I have emailed to you separately.

    Regards

    Jonathan
