    Default Ferry pilot Doreen Ashburnham

There are many references to the above on the the Net at the moment as she is one of the Victoria Cross and George Cross recipients being celebrated at the Lord Ashcroft Gallery in London. In 1916, when she was 11 years-old, Ashburton and an 8-year-old boy fought off a cougar very near to where I live on Vancouver Island, each receiving the Albert Medal, later replaced with the George Cross.

Where is this going, you are asking... after returning to England, her place of birth, Ashburton moved to the US, became a pilot and, according to reports, ferried aircraft from Canada to the UK.

Wondering if anyone has any information on her ferrying activities.

    Regards:

    Robert
