Default Former 76 Sqn Flight Commanders

    Hello,

Could someone tell me the circumstances that led to the loss of the following pilots:

32182 Sqn Ldr John Humphrey Ridding OLDFIELD, died 6 Nov 1940, with 61 Sqn flying Hampdens.
37552 Sqn Ldr John Theodore BOUWENS died 22 Apr 1942, with 11 Sqn in Ceylon.
39267 Sqn Ldr Terrence Patrick Armstrong BRADLEY died 10 Apr 1945, with 27 Sqn flying Beaufighters

    Thank you
    Norman

    Hi Norman,

I know you lost a number of files in a PC crash, so I have e-mailed you some info on Warner, Bradley and Bouwens, dregged up from RAFC threads of the past.

But there was nothing on Oldfield that I could find, can someone confirm it was a Hampden?

Default S/L John Humphrey Ridding OLDFIELD

David, You are indeed a wise Sage, thank you.

I have three left to do out of over 60 Flight and COs of 76 Sqn. I have just the following on Oldfield:

S/L Oldfield - killed on 6 Nov 1940. Buried in Kiel War Cemetery, came from Bath, Somerset, England, serving on 61 Sqn at time of loss, married and 29 years of age. I understand the Sqn were based at RAF Hemswell and operating Hampdens.

Thanks James, I've been wondering what the target was for ages.
