    Default Lancaster in Beatles Movie

    Dear mates,

this inquiry is appr. 50 pct. of topic, but maybe someone is able to track down the flying activities of Lancs in late summer 1967, when The Beatles filmed the sequence of "I Am The Walrus" at West Malling airfield around 11. Sept. 1967. The aircraft is shown two or three times cruising through the Kentish skies during this sequence of the Magical Mystery Tour movie.
Was it possibly today´s BBMF Lanc?
(Maybe the West Malling scenes of the movie are of some use to researchers of this airfield).

    Thanks, George

    Default Lanc?

    George

This appeared recently on a different forum. Can't recall which one, obviously one of the lesser ones than this! :-)

As I recall, it was concluded there that it was actually a Shackleton not a Lancaster.

Thanks, Ian, I´ve found it. So the shooting of this sequence quite probably took place while a BoB air display was going on on some neighbour airfield.

Just looked at the video in question. That's the "Grey Lady", aka Shackleton.

    Hi Dennis,

I´m 45 and regret every now and again I wasn´t in it back then. This gig which I take to be "far off, far out and far ahead of its time" should be repeated once on exactly the same location.
Otherwise thanks to anyone for assistance and interest.
