    Default S.P.C. bombs - 1942?

    Dear all,

I am still plodding through the log of a 108 Sqn air gunner who saw service in the Western Desert during 1942. In it, he mentions that his Wimpy carried 'S.P.C. High Explosive bombs' on a number of raids against German ground forces. Could someone please tell me what the abbreviation stands for?

    Thanks in adavnce

    Pavel,

Thanks, but I am not sure that is it. He goes on to describe them as 40 lb S.P.C. bombs. As he mentions incendiaries in the text, I am beginning to wonder whether, due to their size, they are not anti personnel bombs of some sort. Special Purpose......?

OK. I think my W/Op AG got it wrong. It should be S.B.C. - Small Bomb Containers.

    Thanks chaps. As you were!
