    Default F/Sgt Jozef Durys P782710

    Hello again,
Many thanks to Ross for getting the forum up and running again.
Can anyone update me on Jozef Durys please.
He came to the UK in 1940 (when?) trained with 25(P)EFTS, 16(P)SFTS, 4AGS, 302 sqn then back to 25(P)EFTS before the war ended.
He joined the RAF and was still in the service on 14-6-51 when he was granted Naturalised status.
Does any one know his home town in Poland, how did he get to the UK and what postings he had in the RAF, possibly 2 sqn on Spitfire PR19.
    Thanks Roy

He flew with No 2 Squadron in the early 1950s, indeed. Missions behind the Iron Curtain were flown from (West) Berlin, and the details were not revealed as yet.

Would anyone know where he lived in Poland before the war please.

Bump it up on Monday, Wojtek should know those details. The man flew Spitfires during the war.

    Franek,
Thanks for your help, it looks like Josef was with 2 sqn when they changed from the Spitfire PR19 to the Meteor FR9 and PR10. So possibly saw his homeland from East Germany. How ironic.

    Peter,
You are a star, many thanks for all the details.
You probably know that as a F/Sgt on 302 sqn he scored a victory on 23-9-43 in Spitfire IX, MA235 on Ramrod 240 Part 1 of a Me109G at 1600hrs near Le Treport.
Have you any ideas what his rank was at the end of the war please.
    Thanks, Roy
