    Default Spitfire loss 3rd oct 1941 over Holland - cause?

    Hi,
    I am trying to research Sgt J C Ward, a pilot with 54 Sqn who lost his life over Holland on the 3rd Oct 1941. Can anybody help me out with the aircraft deatils and cause of his loss - AA? Shot down by enemy aircraft? Any help or guidance appreicated,

    Hi Rick
    From Fighter Command Losses Vol 1 by Norman Franks-Ward,21, was shot down by a Fw 190,flown byJohannes Schmidt of JG 26 whilst part of Circus 105, flying Spitfire Vb P7846. He went into the sea and his body was washed ashore on Oct 21.He is buried in the Hague.From the JG26 War Diaries by Donald Caldwell, Circus 105 was an escort operation for a Blenheim attack on the power station at Ostend
