Default Information needed on Spitfire VB P7846

Who can give me more information on the Spitfire VB P7846 with Sergeant (Pilot) John Charles Ward ? It crashed on October 3th 1941 in the Northsea near The Hague, The Netherlands.

What's the reason that it crashed and what was his mission ?
From wich RAF-base was it coming ?

    Thanks
    Ronald

shows the aircraft as serving with 54 Sqn based at Hornchurch in Essex. It was escorting Blenheims on a mission to Ostende and is assumed to have been shot down by fighters 10 miles from Manston, Kent which is some way from The Hague.

    Ronald,

Sgt Ward's Spitfire was shot down by Hptm. Johannes Schmid of 8./JG26 who put his claim "20 km. N. Ostende".

The body of Sgt Ward only washed ashore on 21/10/1941 near Den Haag, where he was buried.

The Hornchurch Wing had rear-support for 24 Blenheims that attacked a power station at Oostende.

    Regards,

    Leendert

    Hello,

I already send most of you a PM but just a reminder/for everybody that has got some information about J.C. Ward but I didn't send a PM.

I recently purchased his medal set in incl. the medal box and condolence slip and now I'm looking for information about him.

So if any help would be very appreciated.
