Default Plt Off David Bourne, 43 Sqn

    Hi,

On 5th September 1941 Plt Off Bourne took off from Drem on a patrol. It was later reported that his Hurricane crashed near Donibristle in Fife. I have two sources for the Hurricane, Z2520 and Z2971. I don't have the relevant AB serial book to check the correct serial number.

Can someone who has this book or indeed the 43 Sqn ORB confirm which Hurricane he was flying.

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Hi Alex,
Dave is correct Z2971 was being flow by P/O Bourne on the 5/9/41 and crashed at Cullaloe Farm. I have two causes of the crash, the first is that it hit a hill in low cloud (Air Britain) and the second is that it spun into the trees from 1000ft. Not sure which is correct.

    Regards,
    Alan.

    Hi DaveW, Alan

Thanks for your quick replies, much appreciated. Now I have the correct serial number I'll order up the accident card and see if it has any further details.
