Bobbie JG from Facebook?? Small world ! (Actually it really is for the RAF Research community so I am not surprised!)

For our members here Bobthejo has been procuring logbooks and collects and more importantly properly scanning and sharing them across various FB Groups for other researchers to access.

Bob, I know you have been very gracious in sharing digital copies of your collections and many of our forum visitors will definitely benefit.

The easiest way is - if you have already have posted it on a FB Group or page , and it is a public page, then just provide the link there.

If you need the ability to upload your own photos separately on THIS site, I can set you up with the gallery, and it will add a layer of work for you..

Just let me know,

Hi Jagan,

Thank you for your kind words.

That is me from Facebook with the Logbook Group, you are all welcome to join and search through what has been posted, not only have I posted but also some of the other 900+ knowledgeable members have to, so plenty of reading and researching material.

Logbook Group link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1144646149206957

If that doesn't work its called: Logbooks From WW1, WW2 and Postwar, if you have to manually search for it.

Yes please to the gallery, if that's not too much trouble, can it be used across all the forums or only on this thread, thank you.

All the best.

Bobbie

Quoting Henk - "Chorley mentions that the aircraft may have been attacked by an enemy night fighter over Erfurt, but this may be way off track."

My continued research and records opened at Kew on the 1 Jan 2022 lead me to believe W R Chorley WAS way off track and perhaps based his record on the Death location of A A Phillips at Erfurt Hospital 15-5-1944.

I was wrong in my earlier post in assuming A A Phillips had parachuted out and landed near to Erfurt.

It would seem that Phillips did initially pass through the Dulag Luft, but being injured (probably Fractured Skull - noted on death cert) went into the Hohemark hospital (admitted 28-02-1944) and then on to Stalag IXC Muhlhausen, thus his PoW number being very different from his comrades in Stalag Luft 6, but similar to other PoWs established to also be at Stalag IXC.

I am now guessing that he was on work detail in Erfurt, either in a shoe factory (he had been a shoe shop assistant before the war) or in horticulture, both work details from Stalag IXC.
He was then probably taken ill and admitted to hospital (Reserve Lazarett II Erfurt) and subsequently died.

The death cert states he died from 'a weak heart caused by a fracture of the parietal bone' (back of the head).

So I have now ruled out looking for JB595 in Thuringia!

Clues keep emerging and I know JB595 crash landed at an air base (but likely army not Luftwaffe).

The search continues....
