WW2 RAF crashes in AlderneyHi Tim Ian here. My research has taken a back burner for a while now, however if I can help in anyway I will. I know of several Allied aircraft that are claimed to have came down on or close to Alderney, 02/11/41 Spitfire V W3830 (Holt VIII), 234 Sqn P/O B W Meyer, Shipping Recce - Engine Trouble. POW 08/11/41 Spitfire Vb AD188, 501 Sqn, P/O W J Greenaway, Escort shotdown by ME109. POW 05/06/43 Spitfire Vc EN953 504 Sqn, Sgt Gerald Frank Locke 1314587. Flew into the sea in fog close to Alderney. 04/02/44 Typhoon lb, JP902 'D', 193 Sqn, Sgt John Richard King-Meggat, Crashed in to sea following attack on Cap de la Haque. 05/02/44 Typhoon lb, JR251, 263 Sqn, F/O Norman Peter Blacklock 84967, Shipping Recce to Alderney and Cap de la Hague. One Luftwaffe that I have on record, but am sure many more would have crashed in the area. 31/12/40, Ar196, Werknr 0124, 5./KuFlGr.196, Crashed due to bad weather Please feel free to drop me a PM if I can be of further help. Kind regards Ian ....Read More.en830 on 5th April 2010 11:15:22
