Awards, 14 June 1945With considerable help from Steve Brew, I am able to provide citations for several hundred awards published in the Birthday Honours List, 14 June 1945 as listed below. 411011 - Unaccounted airmen - 11-10-1941 and 12-10-41Hi Henk Barley,19, registered at Nottingham Berry,34, registered at Chorley, Lancashire Ronald Hughes,19,(no middle initial on the register) registered at Shrewsbury, Shropshire Humble,20, registered at Scarborough, N Yorkshire Rees,32, registered at Howden, E Yorkshire Alsop,19, and Garrett,44, are registered at Birmingham, which could put them on the Lysander V9612 as Erdington, where the a/c hit the Balloon,is part of Birmingham Davies,28, registered at Grantham, Lincolnshire, the right area for an incident at Barkston, Pierce,20, registered at Repton, Derbyshire ?N5417 Dickenson,32, registered at Dover Kent I found 2 Robert Stewart's, one age 36, registered at Watford, Hertfordshire and the other age 24, registered at Lambeth, S London. The age on CWGC is 30!! Lynch,29, registered at Bromsgrove, Worcestershire Wilson,30, registered at Winchester, Hampshire Phitidis,25, is registered at Ampthill, Bedfordshire which would be right for Blenheim L4849,however Warner records the accident with F/Lt Burke uninjured and Sgt Phidisis killed I think it reasonable to suggest that Warner has mis-spelt the name as it is Phitidis that is on CWGC and Pavel has come up with that name from his sources I didn't find Hardwood or Darrah on the register I have now found a Leslie R Harwood,21, registered at Nelson, Lancashire also on CWGC. Darrah is on CWGC as buried at Kinloss Abbey, Morayshire, Scotland. His parents are from Worthing,Sussex and it might indicate that he died in Scotland Regards Dick ....Read More.Dick on 30th December 2008 11:51:58

F/L Alastair Robert Stewart VR 117130Roy Not a 100% certain answer, but ancestry.co.uk has a family tree for an Alastair Robert Stewart, d.o.b. January 7th 1920. He died in December 2000 in Bodmin, Cornwall. Despite the distinctly Caledonian name, there's nothing on the Scotland's People website for births, but FreeBMD has only one match - Alastair R Stewart, birth registered Hackney, Jan-Feb-March 1920, mother's maiden name Davies, which matches the ancestry.co.uk family tree.
