|421003 - Unaccounted airwoman and airmen - 3-10-1942
|I note the request for information regarding the circumstances of the unaccounted deaths of a number of airmen during the Second World War. I am the only child of William Galley 1136557 who died in Egypt on October 3rd 1942. The cause of his death was drowning in Lake Timsah at Ismailia. Apparently he and some colleagues hired a boat for a sail on the lake and whilst sailing there was a sudden squall and the boat/dinghy overturned. Regrettably my father never learnt to swim and was drowned. Apparently all of his companions survived. He is buried in the War Graves cemetery at Ismailia ....Read More.
