I've been doing a bit of reading about him since hearing of his passing - sadly, he was one of those I had heard of but knew next to nothing about - and finally crossed his book off my list. I was particularly struck by how good his eyesight seemed to be. Fighter pilot, yes, but his eyes seemed particularly keen. RIP.
