I don't think this has come up on RAFCommands previously hence this post - apologies if I'm in error.
I've just come across this three volume history of the RAF on the Internet; although the account was written in the early 1950s I think it contains much of interest. The source of the material is the Hyperwar Foundation (see http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/about.html) and the index of its vast amount of data is at http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/index.html .
The three volumes dealing with the RAF are at
Vol 1 http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/UN/UK/UK-RAF-I/index.html#contents
Vol 2 http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/UN/UK/UK-RAF-II/index.html#contents
Vol 3 http://www.ibiblio.org/hyperwar/UN/UK/UK-RAF-III/index.html#contents
So far as I can ascertain Hyperwar is dedicated to placing out of copyright Allied military documents in the public domain.
