Hello,

I have just received the new edition of the above mentioned book.

Great book with a lot of information and also a lot of crew pictures.

Compared to the first edition this one is far more completed. It is to be read during the long witer evenings.

Best regards

René

I'm still awaiting my copy. Ordered & paid for from Stan Parker.
I think the books are delayed because they are coming from Australia by sea/surface mail.

Perhaps mail to France is quicker or more efficient ? Perhaps it will arrive soon ?

My father's first cousin, 20 yr old Flt/Sgt WA Gunning is mentioned, I believe. He & his crew are buried in a CWGC grave in Chievres, Belgium.

Hello Anne

Yes it takes time to arrive. it wa send by seamail.
Posted on 03/01/08 arrived 26/02/08.

If you give the name of yous father's first cousin I will see if his photo is in the book.

It is possible that I will go in the area of Chièvre in the summer, I will take photo of the grave if you want it.

Best regards

René

Dear Rene
Many thanks.I do have a photo of the collectives graves of Gunning & the crew taken by a very helpful contact but would love a more "close up" one !!

The crew were: Flt/Sgt William Alfred Gunning RAAF -pilot my father's cousin
Flt/Sgt R Feakes RAAF
Flt/Sgt HC Jordan RCAF -navigator
Sgt TC Cummins RAF
Sgt DW Covell RAF

Wellington LX288 .Shot down on a mission to Aachen 13/14th July 1943.466 Sqdn RAAF.
My RAAF father & WA Gunning were training in Britain 1943.

I have found relatives of Jordan in Canada & Feakes in Australia & in the process of trying to find Covell's family in UK-if any.

I look forward to the book & hope it arrives soon .

Thank you again
Anne

Hi,

I have just discovered this forum and browsing through back posts.

Does anyone know if any copies of the new edition are still available, and if there is an Australian contact?

Thanks

Torokina

This is the address of the UK contact, Stan Parker, but the book was reprinted & sent from Australia .
I sent my order to Stan & he passed it on to John McManus in Turramurra ,Sydney.I think the orders took them by surprise .
